From the first appearance of Princess Leia in episode IV to the rise of Rey Skywalker in episode IV, women in Star Wars have played a crucial role in the formation of the stories we love. Although underrepresented in the early years of the original trilogy, lead female actors, authors, and creators have taken center stage in the progression of Star Wars films, TV shows, novels, and stories.
